Upway Global Receives Hong Kong “Corporate Citizen” Logo for Fostering a Caring Corporate Culture

On 14 December 2018, the 9th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizen Awards ceremony, organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and co-organised by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. At the event, Upway Global was awarded the “Corporate Citizen” logo, a recognition of the company’s efforts in building a caring corporate culture and affirmation that its “people-oriented” management philosophy is on the right track.

Guests at the ceremony included Mr. Law Chi-kwong, Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the HKSAR Government, Ms. Maggie Pang, Chairperson of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, and Mr. Mohamed Butt, Executive Director of HKPC. In total, 307 corporations, social enterprises and NGOs received commendation logos in recognition of their contributions to social responsibility.

The concept of a “corporate citizen” reflects the spirit pursued by many outstanding companies and is a key source of public trust. The Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizen Awards were established to honor enterprises that integrate civic values into their management practices and demonstrate excellence in both corporate?culture development and social-responsibility performance.

Since 2010, HKPC has successfully run the Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Programme for 9-consecutive-year, encouraging local enterprises to actively fulfil their social responsibilities. Earning the “Corporate Citizen” logo indicates that Upway Global meets the programme’s four major assessment criteria:

Quality and professionalism – putting customers first in products and services

Caring for employees – providing a positive and supportive work environment

Giving back to society – actively participating in charitable and community activities

Supporting environmental protection – helping to safeguard the natural environment

Winning the “Corporate Citizen” honor is an important milestone in Upway Global’s corporate?culture journey, but not an endpoint. The company recognises that there will be even greater social-responsibility expectations to shoulder in the future.
